Fresh Start for Homeless

Homeless Hiring & Resource Event a Success!
Cornerstone Mission had the opportunity to participate in the Homeless Hiring & Resource event called Fresh Start, put on by the Mohave County Continuum of Care which meets quarterly at the County offices.
The purpose of the event was to provide, enrollment in AZ2Work, free clothing, showers, haircuts, ID’s, SNAP appointments, free phones, immunizations, job opportunities and various other resources to provide homeless persons with a Fresh Start. Lunch was also provided. There were many businesses there recruiting workers and lots of organizations providing these resources.
Our table was next to the free phone table. We had the opportunity to hear one of the recipients of a phone make a call…..to his mom. He hadn’t spoken to her in some time and he was thrilled to speak with her and was very clear about giving her his NEW phone number.
The entire event was a blessing from start to finish. It was a gift to watch the transformation of some of the participants with a shower and hair cut. We were grateful that some of the other resources we work with got to see the types of things we get to observe on a daily basis. It was a great day for everyone who was there.
